Their small size, industry standard footprint and compact packaging enables designers to save space on PC boards. Further, placement closer to their loads (Point of Load) is possible. This improves transient response performance because designers can overcome the challenges caused by the high peak current demands and low noise margins of semiconductor devices. This also reduces losses caused by voltage drops and helps overcome noise sensitivity and EMI emission issues.
