In 1982, TRC Electronics began as a small, privately-held company in Lodi, NJ with the goal of providing businesses with 'T'roubleshooting, 'R'epair and 'C'alibration services for power supply units. Initially, TRC Electronics provided these services which included testing and value-added work for electronic power supply equipment. During the company's early years, TRC entered into an agreement to act as both a sales representative and a stocking distributor of power supplies. During this era, power supplies weren't sold through the distribution model. TRC Electronics was evolving as a leader and trend setter in the marketplace.
During the late 80's, TRC considered becoming a power supply manufacturer itself when a key parter was showing signs of folding. With the marketing, engineering, and sales expertise in place, all that was missing was the manufacturing capability. Ultimately, TRC decided to continue to build on the strengths of its successful distribution model.
